Police Blotter for April 1 to April 3

Fort Lewis training keeps neighbors awake, a bobcat was seen and three DUI arrests were logged this weekend.

Friday, April 1

Noisy Neighbors: Police in Enumclaw and Buckley received complaints in the area of Sunset Avenue at around 12:50 a.m. about some sort of loud bass creating a vibrating noise in the area. It was determined to be artillery training at Fort Lewis.

Traffic Hazard: A pickup truck was seen towing a large piece of construction equipment on Wells Street at 8:02 a.m. and blocking the roadway. The machinery was having mechanical problems and a technician was enroute from Kent. Meanwhile cones were placed in the roadway.

Vehicle Impounded, not Theft: A citizen reported a vehicle theft from a property on Watson Street North at 3:34 p.m. but stated it was possible the vehicle was impounded by management at Aspen Glade Apartments. Police confirmed it was impounded -- the citizen will handle the issue with management.

Shoplifting: A juvenile was seen stealing a 30-pack of beer from a business on Roosevelt Avenue at 9:18 p.m. He was described as being heavy-set, around 16 years old and wearing a baseball cap and dark clothing. He was last seen on foot walking towards the Blockbuster.

One-Car Accident: A white Ford Escort was seen heading westbound on State Route 410 from milepost 33 at 9:19 p.m. The vehicle reportedly picked up the driver of a one-car accident and police were attempting to locate them. Fire advised that a State Patrol unit had located the vehicle and was taking the driver back to the scene.

Driving Offense: The driver was arrested and book for not having a valid operating license or identification following a traffic stop on Griffin Avenue at 9:45 p.m. The vehicle was released to the registered owner in lieu of impound.

DUI: One person was arrested after police received a report of a possible DUI at Semanski Street and McDougall Avenue at 9:48 p.m. 

Driving While License Suspended: One person was arrested for third-degree driving while license suspended at Porter Street and Stevenson Avenue at 11:04 p.m.

Saturday, April 2

DUI: One person was arrested for DUI after an officer responded to a report of a car in the ditch at State Route 410 and Cole Street at 12:29 a.m. 

Shoplifting: About $15 in beer was stolen from a business on Roosevelt Avenue at 1:24 a.m. Enumclaw Police were responding to the previous DUI so Buckley took information on the theft. There are no suspects.

Noisy Neighbors: Loud fighting and banging was reported at a residence on Myrtine Street at 2:56 a.m. A resident was also reportedly urinating off the balcony. Police issued a verbal warning to cease or be cited.

Police responded to a possible physical domestic problem at a residence on Myrtine Street at 3:35 a.m. They found no issues upon arrival. At 3:59 a.m. there were reports of yelling and possible fighting again. Police advised to quiet down for the night. The officer waited outside and subjects appeared to comply with request to quiet down.

Domestic Dispute: A verbal domestic issue was reported at a property on Chinook Avenue at 4:32 a.m. The matter was settled prior to officers' arrival.

Police responded to a domestic dispute at a location on Railroad Street at 9:55 p.m. The female was leaving for the night.

Malicious Mischief: A case of malicious mischief was reported in connection with an ongoing dispute between two tenants of a complex on Myrtine Street at 1:39 p.m. A possible suspect was identified.

Threat: A citizen reported being threatened by several people who all got into a gray Honda and left the area of Chinook Avenue prior to officer's arrival at 5:26 p.m. 

Trespassing: Four people were playing basketball under the covered court at Sunrise Elementary at 7:04 p.m. They were leaving the area.

Neighbors on Alert: Police received a report of a baby in a carrier that was left unattended on the front porch of a residence on Semanski Street South at 8:22 p.m. for the past seven minutes. Both parents were contacted and said the child was not left unattended -- they were both right inside the door.

Police received a report of a woman who had been drinking walking in the area of Semanski Street and Warner Avenue at 10:47 p.m. The reporting party's phone went dead prior to providing a description. Officer checked the area and while people were out walking, no one appeared to be impaired.

Patient Assist: Police assisted Fire in attending to a patient at a location on Griffin Avenue at 9:27 p.m. The patient was transported to St. Elizabeth.

Sunday, April 3

Noisy Neighbors: Police received a loud music complaint from a location on Watson Street North at 1:27 a.m. The music was turned down prior to police arrival.

Drug Possession: A juvenile was arrested and booked for possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana from a location on Cole Street at 2:56 a.m. They were released to parents.

Bobcat Sighting: Police received a report of a possible bobcat in the area of State Route 410 and Warner Avenue at 8:45 a.m. The call was forwarded to Washington State Patrol/Wildlife. Officer also checked the area and was all clear.

Welfare Check: A citizen reported that neighbor was yelling at another neighbor from a residence on Griffin Avenue at 1:01 p.m. Officer responded and found subject was fine -- had a broken knee and was in pain but declined aid.

DUI: One person was arrested following a traffic stop on Blake Street and Dickson Avenue at 8:58 p.m. Passengers were released at the scene after the vehicle was impounded.

Domestic Dispute: Officer witnessed a possible domestic issue between a male and female who were arguing in the middle of Semanski Street South at 10:40 p.m. The female, a juvenile, was released to a parent. The officer brought the male home and contacted his parents as well.

Dine n' Dash: Police assisted Kent Police in locating a 1999 gray Volkswagen Passat at a property on Griffin Avenue; the driver was a possible suspect in a dine/dash that occurred. He was described as a Hispanic male, 21 years old, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 9 inches with bald or really short hair. Officers did not locate the vehicle at that location.
