UPDATE: Teen Rescued From Nolte State Park Dies

The 16-year-old boy from Yakima was found 50 feet below the surface at Nolte State Park in Enumclaw on Wednesday, Aug. 7.

The King County Medical Examiner identified the drowning victim as 16-year-old Zachary Kuhn, who died of asphyxia due to drowning.

The Yakima teen was in town to attend the Creation Fest currently going on in Enumclaw.

Correction: Divers from King County Zone 3 Fire Department and the King County Sheriff Marine/Dive/Rescue Unit located the boy from the lake.

The King County Medical Examiner confirmed that the 17-year-old boy, who was pulled from the lake at Nolte Park, has died at Auburn Medical Center on Wednesday, according to KCSO spokesperson Sgt. Cindi West.

Crews from Mountain View Fire & Rescue found the 17-year-old male patient 50 feet below the surface around 1:31 p.m., according to its spokesman Tim Perciful.

Medics performed CPR at the scene, and the teen is currently being treated at a local hospital.

Perciful said the water temperature was 52 degrees at the time of the rescue.

The teen, who is visiting the area with a community church, is from Yakima.

The King County Sheriff's Office is responding to a possible drowning involving a teen at Nolte State Park in Enumclaw. Divers on their way to the scene.

KCSO spokesperson Sgt. Cindi West tweeted the report around 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Nolte State Park is about seven miles outside of Enumclaw's city center along the Veazie Cumberland Road.
