Renton Man Dies in SR 18 Collision After Lying Down in Oncoming Traffic

The incident closed eastbound SR 18 for more than three and a half hours.

The eastbound lanes of State Route 18 were closed for more than three and a half hours Monday afternoon after a man laid down in front of oncoming traffic.

The man, identified as 42-year-old Oleg P. Voznyuk of Renton, was struck by a Kenworth Tractor Towing Trailer at half past the noon hour. He died at the scene.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Voznyuk parked a 1993 silver Camry on the shoulder, got out and laid down in the nearest traffic lane before being struck by the semi truck. It's unknown if drugs or alcohol played a part in this event.

The accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.

So sad, I was driving home for lunch and saw the incident. Thinking how hard it's going to be for his family and friends. RIP

How horrible for the truck driver. He will have to live with that for the rest of his life. My heart goes out to him.
