Renton Man Dies in SR 18 Collision After Lying Down in Oncoming Traffic

The incident closed eastbound SR 18 for more than three and a half hours.

The eastbound lanes of State Route 18 were closed for more than three and a half hours Monday afternoon after a man laid down in front of oncoming traffic.

The man, identified as 42-year-old Oleg P. Voznyuk of Renton, was struck by a Kenworth Tractor Towing Trailer at half past the noon hour. He died at the scene.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Voznyuk parked a 1993 silver Camry on the shoulder, got out and laid down in the nearest traffic lane before being struck by the semi truck. It's unknown if drugs or alcohol played a part in this event.

The accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
