Update 11 p.m. Wednesday, May 29:
A section of State Route 164 was closed for nine hours Wednesday as aid responders, investigators and repair crews worked to rescue the driver and repair a downed power pole in a one-vehicle collision that morning.
The Washington State Patrol reports in a press memo the accident occurred at 8:05 a.m. on westbound SR 164 at 156th Avenue N.E. (milepost 5). A 74-year-old Buckley woman in a 2001 Kia Sephia reportedly drifted to the right shoulder and struck the power pole. The pole then fell over and blocked the roadway for most of the day.
The driver was taken to Harborview Medical Center for her injuries. Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved in the incident, and the investigation was ongoing in determining the cause.
