Three Vehicle Prowls, Stolen Mail Recovered and a Display of the Kindness of Strangers in June 27 Blotter

Vehicle Prowl: Two white males in their late teens with dark hair were seen leaving a residence on the 2000 block of Jensen Street at 1:19 a.m. in a red Jeep Cherokee. They were believed to have been prowling a vehicle in the area.

Police responded to a report at 2:44 a.m. of a grey Chevy truck parked on Kibler Avenue at Harding Street that had the driver's side window broken out. The responding officer did not locate the registered owner at the time; the owner contacted plice later and declined to file a report.

A vehicle prowl was reported at 4:35 a.m. on the 1100 block of McKinley Street and was believed to have occurred overnight. A driver's side window was broken out but nothing was taken.

Kindness of Strangers: Police responded to a report that a woman was upset and needing help after being released from the hospital at 7:59 a.m. The responding officer saw that she got a ride to a bus stop and after making contact with her, another bus passenger offered to pay her fare so she could get back to the Muckleshoot reservation.

BB Gun Found: A BB gun was found in the area of Lake Money Smith Road and Auburn-Black Diamond Road at 10:25 a.m. It is currently being held at the police station.

Playground Bullies: Police made contact with a parent at 2:44 p.m. at the skate park on Porter Street on a report that her child had pop, candy, other snacks and $1 stolen from her while at the park. The suspects are older girls between ages 8 to 14 who go to school with the victim. The responding officer emphasized the importance of contacting police at the time when the theft occurs.

Solicitors: Police made contact with a church group that was selling books in the area of the 1900 block of Loraine Street and advised them of the city ordinance against solicitors. They agreed to stop.

Stolen Mail: Police received a report at 4:42 p.m. that a bag of mail had been left in a motel room on Roosevelt Avenue by a prior tenant. The mail appeared to be stolen and was taken to the Enumclaw post office.

Drunk with Child: Police responded to a report at 5:51 p.m. of a man who had been drinking who was being abusive toward his small child. The repoting party had the child at the time police were contacted. The responding officer and Enumclaw fire officials took the man to St. Elizabeth and the child's mother was called to pick up. CPS would be contacted.

Assault Report: Police received a report at 9:24 p.m. that a woman who had been drinking and was reportedly an assault victim had left the ER at St. Elizabeth. The responding officer contacted the male half and took him into custody for a warrant out of Auburn for domestic violence assault. The woman was located at her resident and her injury was evaluated by aid responders. It was determined there was no evidence of assault in this case.

Juvenile Problem: Police responded to a complaint at 11:36 p.m. of a group of four or five youths outside on Wells Street at Battersby Avenue yelling profanities. They agreed to go in for the night.
