City Business as Usual, Via Skype

Bonney Lake Mayor Neil Johnson Jr. hasn't let recovery get in the way of city business.

Also present at the meeting was a King 5 news team, which filmed a story on Johnson that aired on the 5 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts.

Johnson was in good spirits and participated in council discussions, read the Beautify Bonney Lake proclamation and joked with staffers. Deputy Mayor Dan Swatman moved the webcam around the room so Johnson could say hello to all attendees and follow the discussions.

“Yah! That’s what I’m talking about!” Johnson said.

Other council items worth noting:

  • will officially commence on Sept. 17. The proclamation was read by Mayor Johnson.
  • James Keller took his oath of office as Sergeant of Bonney Lake Police.
  • The council on medicinal marijuana businesses and establishments within city limits.
  • The council voted to approve a code change to allow Midtown Grill the opportunity to expand into the adjacent empty business.
