At its March 5 workshop, the Enumclaw City Council discussed what might happen to the city tax levy rate for 2013 if voters decided to annex the city library into King County Library System. in making sure the body's position on the tax rate is clear to voters before the April 17 election. They want to clarify that the city is not interested in rolling back the city tax levy rate to neutralize the effect of the 50 cents per $1,000 assessed value rate that KCLS is able to put to city taxpayers.
This is not what the council did when it did roll back the city tax levy rate for 2012 by 89 cents per $1,000 to lessen the impact of the new King County Fire District No. 28 levy.
Council will consider a resolution establishing its position on the tax levy at its meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
Likewise, Fire District commissioners are hosting a public information meeting at the Cumberland station tonight at 7 p.m. Though the in the April election, this when it was postponed from its original date on Feb. 9. The Cumberland station is located at 35420 Veazie-Cumberland Road.
