Updated: Elfers Concedes at 10 Points Behind Dickson; McGann and Peterson Still Nearly Tied for School Board

Incumbent City Councilman Rich Elfers conceded the race and congratulated Darrel Dickson on his win Wednesday following updated King County elections results; Tina McGann continues to gain over opponent Dan L. Peterson.

City Councilman Rich Elfers, who currently holds Position No. 2 on the Enumclaw City Council, told Patch he called opponent Darrel Dickson Wednesday afternoon after updated elections numbers were released and congratulated him on his win.

Updated results from King County Elections Thursday afternoon show that Dickson has extended his lead over Elfers. Dickson now has 1,243 votes (55.02 percent) over Elfers' 1008 votes (44.62 percent).

These figures now represent 2,471 ballots cast out of 6,262 registered voters in Enumclaw, approximately 39 percent.

"I would like to thank the community for their support in this campaign process," Dickson wrote to Patch Thursday.  "I would also like to thank Richard Elfers for his service to our community as a city councilman.  I look forward to the opportunity to serve in my new role.  Also, I look forward to hearing the ideas, suggestions, and concerns of those whom I serve."

In the Enumclaw School Board Position No. 4 position race, Tina McGann continues to gain over Dan L. Peterson. McGann now has 2,400 votes (50.06 percent) over Peterson's 2,378 votes (49.60 percent). These represent 6,078 ballots cast out of 15,504 registered voters in the school district, about 39 percent.

"I'm going to take it day by day," McGann said Wednesday. "There's still many ballots to count, so I am hopeful."

Peterson wrote to Patch Thursday, "I would like to be on top again. It is nerve racking to see the results day by day and not much headway one way or another."

King County Elections is expected to post updated elections results on Monday, November 14 at 4:30 p.m.

Other Uncontested Council Races:

  • Chance LaFleur had 1,603 votes, or 97.03 percent of counted votes for Position No. 4
  • Jim Hogan had 1,679 votes, or 99.11 percent of counted votes for Position No. 6

Other Uncontested School Board Races:

  • Nancy Merrill had 3,921 votes, or 97.98 percent of counted votes for Position No. 1
  • April Schroeder had 3,817 votes, or 98.78 percent of counted votes for Position No. 2
  • Corey Cassell had 3,782 votes, or 98.49 percent of counted votes

King County Fire Protection District No. 28 (with 4,371 ballots cast out of 11,179, or 39.1 percent)

  • David J. Hannity had 2,696 votes, or 97.97 percent of counted votes in this uncontested race
  • Prop 1: Increasing the Number of Commissioners had 1,837 YES votes (47.41 percent) and 2,038 NO votes (52.59 percent)
