Elections 2012: District 31 Incumbents Maintain Solid Leads in in First Week of Election Returns

With more than 22,000 votes now counted, both Rep. Cathy Dahlquist and Rep. Chris Hurst lead their respective opponents by at least 15 percent.

The numbers rounding out the first week of returns brought no surprises in both 31st District legislative races.

With updated numbers from both Pierce and King counties as of 5:30 p.m. Friday, Rep. Cathy Dahlquist now leads with 14,983 votes (63.82 percent) over challenger Brian Gunn with 8,493 (36.18 percent) for Position No. 1.

Rep. Chris Hurst's (13,142 votes) lead over challenger Lisa Connors (9,855 votes) narrowed slightly to 57.15 percent over Connors' 42.85 percent over the .

Hurst said Wednesday he was pleased with the initial numbers. "I'm really happy with where we are right now," he said. "Obviously this is just the beginning of the campaign now, towards the general, but we're in a very strong position. ... I'm really gratified by the show of support we got from folks and very thankful that we did so well. ... We'll keep working hard and see where we end up in November."

Reichert's Lead Also Solid

Dave Reichert holds his solid lead of 50.8 percent in the 8th District Congressional primary in Washington, with Karen Porterfield holding the second position with 28.32 percent, making the two the likely candiates in the general election this fall.

In King and Pierce counties so far, 508,899 ballots have been counted as of Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Hi, Susan and Lou. We do know that our events calendar has issues at the moment with incorrect timesRead More displaying, and our engineering team is at work to correct this. My best suggestion at the moment is to post a comment on an event with the correct time, if you aren't able to go in and edit an event that you previously posted. Our ownership has not changed -- we have been and continue to be a part of the AOL family. Our intent with the new design is to highlight the great content that our users create and share with the community. We know there have been some bumps with our launch and are working diligently to fix them. We hope you'll be patient with us and continue to share on Patch.

I agree the previous version was much better and I am not adjusting well to the new version at all.Read More Its definitely not a better layout. Also have had many problems with the events calendar which may not even be fixable.

Always looking for a local nature trail, I really enjoy reading Mary Janosik's well written blog. InRead More fact, almost all the dedicated bloggers posting on the Enumclaw PATCH have something worthwhile reading. But it is not an easy job for most of us, taking some time to research and write, without any compensation. Our only reward is knowing we are being read and appreciated and the only way we know that is when you comment.
