What are the primary reasons you are running for Enumclaw City Council?

I am running to see that all the tax dollars paid by the people of Enumclaw are used in the best way possible. During hard economic times, the decisions faced by elected officials get tougher and tougher. I feel that my experience in business, maintenance/construction, budgeting, and handling tough financial situations will be an asset to the City Council. People in this town work hard for every dollar they pay in taxes, and I think that their local government should have
to make the same sacrifices that many people are having to go through.

What are your top three priorities if you get elected?

1. To make sure that our city is spending the financial allocations they are given by the people of the City of Enumclaw as if it were spending their own money. Unnecessary expenditures should be reviewed extremely close during our current economic situation, and reserves should be a high priority.

2. Create a budget that is not only balanced, but that can increase the city's reserve funds if possible. Some would turn to reserves during a financial "pinch", but these funds should be only used in cases of emergencies.

3. See that any assets owned by the City of Enumclaw are either providing a necessary function to the residents of Enumclaw, covering their own costs of operations, or are corrected as soon as possible to prevent the loss of any further city funds.

What sets you apart from other candidates?

I think that I can bring a fresh perspective to issues faced by the city council. I am not a politician, I am focused on the business side and what can help businesses in this town. I have heard people say that to be business and profit centered is not a good trait to have on City Council. I would say to them, wouldn't it be nice to have a "profitable" city? A city where we are not as concerned with finances because we have spent any revenues wisely enough to create a surplus? These "profits" could then turn into parks, city improvements, road projects, etc... I know I am not well versed in the political arena as some candidates this year, but I must say, I think that is a good thing!

How much money do you expect your campaign to spend on this election?

Less than $100.
