Meet Your 31st District Representatives in Public Meeting Series this May

Area chambers of commerce, schools and Sound Publishing are hosting a 'Community Connection' series in early May with Reps. Cathy Dahlquist and Christopher Hurst.

State Reps. Christopher Hurst and Cathy Dahlquist will meet with constituents in a series of meetings around the 31st Legislative District in early May, according to a press release issued jointly by their offices this week.

The leaders will give a brief legislative update at each event then take questions from attendees. Local newspapers affiliated with Sound Publishing will moderate the events.

Residents of the 31st Legislative District, which includes Sumner, Bonney Lake, Enumclaw, and parts of Auburn, Edgewood, South Prairie and Wilkeson, are encouraged to attend. Residents can ask questions and share their thoughts on key bills debated during the 2012 regular and special sessions.

The 2012 legislative session and two subsequent special sessions ended April 11, after a 24-hour floor session. A supplemental state operating budget and several government reform measures were passed the final day.

“It’s always good to be back home and to hear from our friends and neighbors,” said Hurst, D-Enumclaw. “This is a chance to have a conversation about how we can work together – all of us – to create jobs, improve our schools and fight crime.”

“I am so glad our communities are interested in what is happening at the state level. More than three hundred bills were passed this year that will impact citizens in our district,” said Dahlquist, R-Enumclaw. “Engaging the public, including high school students, businesses and media in the legislative process is incredibly important. I appreciate organizers taking the initiative to put these events together. I look forward to sharing a brief legislative update, hearing from constituents and answering questions.”

Hi, Susan and Lou. We do know that our events calendar has issues at the moment with incorrect timesRead More displaying, and our engineering team is at work to correct this. My best suggestion at the moment is to post a comment on an event with the correct time, if you aren't able to go in and edit an event that you previously posted. Our ownership has not changed -- we have been and continue to be a part of the AOL family. Our intent with the new design is to highlight the great content that our users create and share with the community. We know there have been some bumps with our launch and are working diligently to fix them. We hope you'll be patient with us and continue to share on Patch.
