Crews continue to make progress removing thousands of cubic yards of debris, after flash-floods closed State Route 410 the night of Sept. 5.
Maintenance crews with the Washington State Department of Transportation are using excavators, loaders, and several trucks to remove mud and rock from the roadway. Drivers and local traffic need to continue using the Nile Road as a detour around the two-mile SR 410 closure from milepost 105 to 107.
Although crews have been able to remove most of the material where the largest flash-flood occurred, local traffic shouldn't try to access SR 410 through the closure until work is complete and the roadway is open.
Crews are still hoping to have SR 410 reopen to traffic by the end of the weekend.

Update 1:30 p.m. Friday:
Crews were able to get a better look at damage to State Route 410 this morning, after heavy rains caused flash floods to wash across the road, depositing large amounts of mud, rock and other debris. Crews are clearing debris at more than 15 different locations along the two-mile closure between milepost 105 and 107. Debris up to 8 feet deep was blocking the roadway after the heavy rains.
Crews continue to make headway clearing more than 3,000 cubic yards of debris, but still don’t have an estimate of a reopening time. Once the debris has been cleared, crews will need to assess damage to the roadway and guardrail, which could prolong the closure.

Heavy rains Thursday night caused several mudslides on SR 410. The Washington State Department of Transportation closed a two-mile section of SR 410 between milepost 105 to 107 at about 9 p.m. Thursday night.
Drivers are being detoured around the closure on Nile Loop Road.
The road could remain closed until Saturday or even Sunday. Crews started clearing debris early Friday morning. One of the slides were about 8 feet deep and blocking the roadway. There is approximately 2,000 cubic yards of debris that needs to be removed before the roadway can reopen.
