Tom Mann to Run for Enumclaw City Council

Prior to his retirement in February 2012, Tom Mann has been a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters for 35 years.

Longtime Enumclaw resident and Union representative, Tom Mann announced on Tuesday that he is seeking position 5 on the Enumclaw City Council.

Together, Tom and his wife Pam, have five children and four grandchildren. Mann has lived in the greater Enumclaw area for 25 years and moved into the city of Enumclaw 16 years ago.

His children attended Enumclaw schools, where Mann was involved in the districts boundary review process and its committee. He has served as vice president of the Meadows Home Owners Association and on the Associations’ architectural review committee.

Prior to his retirement in February 2012, Mann has been a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters for 35 years. During his career as a Teamster, Mann held the title of Senior Business Agent for 16 of those years.

“The last few years have been difficult for families, workers, and local businesses," Mann said. "I want to bring the views of all Enumclaw residents together to move Enumclaw forward with a balanced approach. I also want to protect the things that make Enumclaw a unique place to raise your family or start a local business."

Mann spent many years as a Union chairman and co-chair. He negotiated the Western Washington Grocery agreement, sand & gravel, redi-mix and independent agreements.

Mann’s experience expands negotiating nationally and locally. In addition, Mann has worked as an Organizer with the Union, and served on Arbitration Review Committees and Dispute Resolution Committees.

His training also includes successful completion and practicing of “Agreement Dynamics” collaborative bargaining with the Port of Seattle covering unionized port workers.

Mann said he will bring the skills he learned over the years to the Enumclaw city council.

“I will listen to you and your concerns. Together we can keep the best of Enumclaw while building a strong future for our city,” he added.
