EHS Girls Wrestling Make Strong Showing at 2012 Mat Classic

K.C. Moulden took third place in the 265 lb weight class to lead an 11th place team finish at the 2012 Girls Mat Classic.

The Enumclaw Hornet girls wrestling team put together a strong Mat Classic performance this weekend at the Tacoma Dome. The Hornets finished in 11th place with 44 team points in the girls team competition. The girls team competition includes teams from all classifications in the state. 

In the 145 pound weight class Danielle Cormier overcame an opening round loss to Kara Alden of Skyline, fought her way back through the consolation bracket to the seventh place match against Luaipu Lologo of Federal Way and soundly defeated her 10-4.

In the 170 pound weight class Elizabeth Patterson went 3-1 on Saturday to get into the fifth place match at the 170 pound weight class against Imani Hampton of Emerald Ridge High School. Patterson made quick work of her with a pin at 1:18 mark to secure fifth place in the 2012 Mat Classic.

In the 265 pound weight class, K.C. Moulden made her way to the semifinals with a couple of quick pins over Angela Mendez of Mt. Baker and Fatima Barrajas of Wahluke High School. Moulden lost to eventual state champion Laura Charbonneau of Stanwood in the semifinal, but she finished with a flourish by beating Kimiko Misioka of Fife 4-3 in the match for third and fourth place.
