EHS Orchestra Students Impress at Weekend Competition

Parent Monica Bainter gave us the lowdown on how Saturday's Green River Regional Solo and Ensemble Contest went in Kent and why Enumclaw students shined.

Enumclaw High School orchestra students shined at the Green River Regional Solo and Ensemble contest Saturday at Mill Creek Middle School in Kent winning four of the six categories. The winners will be going to Central Washington University to compete at the WIAA State Solo and Ensemble Contest on April 27 and 28th. Enumclaw musicians earned 32 Superior and 12 Excellent ratings at the contest.


Violin Soloist Kaelynn Dirks and Viola Soloist Mary Jarvis won their categories. Winning in the ensemble groups were the Violin Duo of Alyssa Hudon and Dirks winning the Small Strings Ensemble and the EHS Tango String Quintet with Hudon, Dirks, Andrew Johnson, Lori Lamm and Natalie Kays who won the Large Strings Ensemble.

Second Alternates who may get called up to state if a spot becomes available are Alyssa Hudon, violin solo and the EHS String Quartet "The Secret Ones" with Anne Wolfe, Keelan Wells, Johnson and Jarvis in the Small Strings Ensemble.

They will be joined by fellow EHS band musicians Zachary Bainter, Thomas Horn and Ben Hanks who earned their way to state in at band regionals in January.

Hi, Susan and Lou. We do know that our events calendar has issues at the moment with incorrect timesRead More displaying, and our engineering team is at work to correct this. My best suggestion at the moment is to post a comment on an event with the correct time, if you aren't able to go in and edit an event that you previously posted. Our ownership has not changed -- we have been and continue to be a part of the AOL family. Our intent with the new design is to highlight the great content that our users create and share with the community. We know there have been some bumps with our launch and are working diligently to fix them. We hope you'll be patient with us and continue to share on Patch.

I agree the previous version was much better and I am not adjusting well to the new version at all.Read More Its definitely not a better layout. Also have had many problems with the events calendar which may not even be fixable.
