Hometown Hornets Fall to Union, 49-7

Enumclaw plays next at Lincoln.

After leading 7-0 in the first quarter it was all downhill from there for the Enumclaw Hornets Friday night, losing to Union 49-7 in a non-league game at Enumclaw Stadium.

Next Friday, Enumclaw's football team travels to Lincoln in Tacoma. EHS fell to 1-1, while Union High of Vancouver also is now 1-1.

Trailing, Union running back Gabe Rego took over the game, scoring five touchdowns in the final three quarters as the visitors won going away. Rego ran the ball 13 times for 144 yards and four touchdowns. Quarterback Kaben Humphrey-Buttler threw for 280 yards and three touchdonws, one 56 yards to Rego, one 28 yards to Jake Hawken and one 79 yards to Tanner Nelson, according to The Columbian newspaper.

The visitors lost last week 27-10 to Bethel, ranked No. 8 in the state, while the Hornets opened their season with a 28-14 win over visiting Yelm. Last year, Union beat Enumclaw 38-7 at McKenzie Stadium in Vancouver.
