VIDEO: No Moms Allowed: Dads Get Daughters to Themselves at Annual Dance

The Enumclaw Rotary Club's vital support for the 18th Annual Father Daughter Dance helped see to it that this important community tradition lives on.

Every daughter needs an example of how a young lady is to be treated by a man, said the Enumclaw Area Father Daughter Dance website, and so it was that about 900 or so people were expected to attend this important community tradition on Saturday, Feb. 5 at , said organizer Lisa Parker of the Enumclaw Rotary Club.

This year marks the 18th year that the dance has been held, but it almost didn't happen when the city of Enumclaw, during its budget season last year, determined it could not continue to fund the event.

That's when the Rotary Club stepped in, Parker said.

Parker, a Rotary member and the chair for this dance committee, said her daughters were able to enjoy this dance and she wanted to ensure that little girls will be able to continue to experience it with their fathers in the future.

The community came together to make it happen. This year's dance was split into three sessions, and 115 registrations were received for each session. Each registration included admission for two -- dad and one daughter -- and many dads brought more than one daughter. Consequently, Parker estimates that there were about 300 people total per session.
