Rotary Names May Students of the Month

The Enumclaw Rotary Club recognized Kelsey Sonneson of Enumclaw High School, Alyssa Wagner of White River High School and Nyssa Schlager of the White River Alternative Programs at their May 19 meeting.

The Enumclaw Rotary Club recognized the following students as Students of The Month at their May 19 meeting, according to International Service Director Diane Anderson.

Kelsey Sonneson, daughter of Molly and Keith Sonneson of Enumclaw, was the recipient from Enumclaw High School.  A 3.85 student, Kelsey  is a member of the National Honor Society and senior class officer.  She has participated in basketball, volleyball, track and swim team while in high school and is currently on the water polo team.  Kelsey will attend Renton Technical College to get her Certified Nursing Assistant certification and then hopes to work toward an RN and eventually BSN degree.

Alyssa Wagner, daughter of Shannon and Robert Wagner of Buckley, was the recipient from White River High School.  A strong academic student, Alyssa has taken 2 advanced placement classes and has a 3.65 GPA.   Alyssa also plays soccer, is a club officer with the Connections Club and has been a volunteer with the Food Bank.  Alyssa has received a scholarship to study as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Pierce College with hopes of eventually attending medical school to be a psychologist.

Nyssa Schlager, daughter of Melanie and Mark Schlager of Black Diamond, was the recipient from White River Alternative Programs.  Nyssa has attended Collins/White River Alternative for the past four years and will graduate this June.  She is the mother of an 18 month old daughter.   Nyssa plans to attend Green River Community College this fall and work towards a business degree and hopes to own her own business someday.
