Enumclaw Gridders Play at Home Against Union

Enumclaw’s football team will play its second of only four home games this year Friday night hosting Union High School out of Vancouver. While the Hornets were beating Yelm 28-14 in their opener last week, Union was losing 27-10 to Bothell. Friday night’s game starts at 7.

Union is led by quarterback Kaben Humphrey Butler, who was 9 for 24 for 70 yards in the loss. He scored the team’s only touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run in the first quarter as Union jumped out to a 10-0 lead. So far, Humphrey Butler has relied on two main receivers: Tanner Nelson caught four passes for 36 yards and Gabe Rego caught three for 33.Brandon Brody-Hein led the rushing attack with 43 yards on 12 carries.The Titans gave up a safety and two passes for touchdowns in the contest against Bothell.

The Hornets will rely on a defense that completely shut down Yelm in the second half of their ballgame, except for one long run at the start of the third quarter. On offense, quarterback Tyler Carlson runs the ball a lot, scoring three times against the Tornadoes. Sophomore Cameron Strecker stood out at running back in the opener, scoring once and catching three passes.

Union, 0-1, is a 4A school, while Enumclaw, 1-0, is 3A.
