Enumclaw High School senior swimmer and water polo player Bennon VanHoof signed his National Letter of Intent to swim at Pacific Lutheran University (Tacoma, WA) last week.

VanHoof earned four varsity letters with the EHS Swim & Dive Team and four with the EHS Water Polo Team.  He also holds the current Enumclaw High School swimming record in the 100-yard breaststroke, at 59.81.

VanHoof initially broke the school breaststroke record as a freshman, with a time of 1:01.78.  He continued to break his own record each year, swimming 1:01.38 as a sophomore, and 1:00.20 as a junior, before setting the current record of 59.81 during his senior year.

Also during his senior year, VanHoof was awarded the EHS Swim & Dive Team Coaches' Award and the team's Tin Man Award, given to teammates who swim a District time in each event.

In water polo, VanHoof earned his team's Most Valuable Offensive Player Award as a junior and senior, and was team captain both years.  He also earned First Team All League honors as a junior and senior, and All State Honorable Mention during his senior season.

He has competed year-round with the local swim club, Rainier Foothills Swim Team (RFST), for 11 years, and works as a lifeguard at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center.

VanHoof will graduate from Enumclaw High School in June.  He plans on studying Sociology at Pacific Lutheran University.
