Video Released of Enumclaw Hydroplane Racer Crash

Enumclaw driver Ryan Mallow flipped his racer end to end on Saturday in the Detroit area.

Enumclaw hydroplane racer Ryan Mallow has been released from a Michigan hospital after a hair-raising crash Saturday during the American Power Boat Association Gold Cup race on the Detroit River.

The Detroit Free Press is reporting Mallow suffered a bruised elbow because of the crash, and was released from Detroit Receiving Hospital later Saturday night.

The U-100 Leland Hydroplane team released this statement on their Facebook page: UPDATE: Ryan Mallow is in good health and has been cleared medically with a few bumps and bruises. Thank you to everyone for your support and well wishes!! They are greatly appreciated by Ryan and the entire U100 crew.

Regarding the crash: “Coming on the back stretch, something in the front of the boat gave way and there was no resistance of the pedal,” Mallow told the Free Press. “It kind of got up and I got out of the throttle, at that point there was nothing I could do about it.
