EHS Boys Take 4th at Mat Classic Championships

The achievements of several seniors, including state repeaters Tyke Reid and Justin Mitchell, and Kelyn Wallin's triumph over injuries sustained in an accident two years ago, are among highlights from this year's competition.

The Enumclaw High School boys wrestling team cemented fourth place out of 59 schools statewide that took part in the 3A division of the Mat Class state championships over the weekend.

Of 12 wrestlers the Hornets brought to the competition, seven wrestlers placed. They were:

3rd Place - Senior Ryan Anderson in 160 class

4th Place - Freshman Kyle Opland in 106 class

4th Place - Senior Jerad Paul in 126 class

5th Place - Senior Tyke Reid in 126 class

4th Place - Senior Justin Mitchell in 152 class

7th Place - Senior Kelyn Wallin in 182 class

8th Place - Sophomore Falani Gill in 170 class

Garrett Grau, Hunter Haney, Sean Wei, Garrett Roe and Levi Norton were also state participants.

In his high school career, Reid went to and placed at state four times, taking fifth, fourth and second places before taking fifth this time around. Mitchell has also gone to state twice, placing third in 2012 and fourth this year.

Wallin, who in November 2010 was involved in a tractor accident, overcame his injuries to take seventh place this year.

Hi, Susan and Lou. We do know that our events calendar has issues at the moment with incorrect timesRead More displaying, and our engineering team is at work to correct this. My best suggestion at the moment is to post a comment on an event with the correct time, if you aren't able to go in and edit an event that you previously posted. Our ownership has not changed -- we have been and continue to be a part of the AOL family. Our intent with the new design is to highlight the great content that our users create and share with the community. We know there have been some bumps with our launch and are working diligently to fix them. We hope you'll be patient with us and continue to share on Patch.
