New EHS Girls Basketball Coach Announced

Mindi Dribnak has reportedly accepted the position of head girls basketball coach for the 2013-14 season.

Current Enumclaw High School Athletic Director Kevin Smith shared news Thursday that Mindi Dribnak has been appointed to head the girls basketball program in the 2013-14 season following the earlier announced departure of Beth Madill.

Below is Smith's full announcement:

Mindi Dribnak was born and raised in Toppenish, WA located in the lower Yakima Valley. She graduated from THS in 1994 and then attended Brigham Young University. After graduating from college in 2000, she taught and coached at Lakeridge Jr. High in Orem, UT while assisting at Pleasant Grove High School for three basketball seasons. She also received her Master’s Degree in Physical Education Pedagogy during that time through a partnership program with Lakeridge Jr. High and BYU. She then moved to California for a fortunate opportunity to play basketball at Ohlone College. Due to a torn ACL earlier in her basketball career she had never used her eligibility and decided this was her last chance to play. This opportunity led to her experience teaching and coaching JV softball and varsity girls’ basketball at James Logan High School in Union City, CA for two years. In 2005, she then accepted a Physical Education teaching position and head girls’ basketball coaching position at Zillah High School in Zillah, WA and felt privileged to be a part of the great basketball tradition that exists in the small community. Under her direction, the ZHS Lady Leopards made it to the state tournament six out of seven seasons, coming home with three trophies (2006, 2007, & 2008).  In 2006 her team played in the semi-finals losing by two points to Bellevue Christian who went on to play in the title game. She had three different teams play for the SCAC district championship title (2006, 2009, & 2010) with the 2009 team beating Connell for the title. She taught and coached for seven years there before getting married to Kody Dribnak and moving to Nampa, ID this past year. She currently teaches at Kuna Middle School and Kody works for the Idaho State EMS bureau. They are relocating this summer to the great state of Washington and Mindi can’t wait to be an Enumclaw Hornet coach and Enumclaw Middle School Physical Education teacher.
