Puyallup Fair Welcomes Beer, Wine and Floral Entries

The Puyallup Fair invites amateur brewers and winemakers to put their creations to the test. The Fair will award prizes to mixes that are just a sip above the rest. The winning entries will be on display for the duration of the Fair, Sept. 7-23, in the west side of the Americraft ShowPlex. The deadline to register is August 16 at 10 p.m.

Entries must be delivered to the Fair on Saturday, August 18 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., and will only be received inside the grounds through the Red Gate on 9th Avenue SW, between 3rd and 4th St. S.W.

Judging will take place on Sunday, August 26. Beer and wine will be judged based on a variety of criteria including clarity and color, aroma and bouquet, body, flavor, balance, drinkability and overall impression. The categories are based on the beer and wine type. All exhibitors must be 21 years or older to enter, and have no affiliation, past or present, with a commercial brewery or winery.

A fee of $3.50 will be charged for each entry. Wine entries must be in standard 750 ml bottles and fitted with a suitable closure (no bottle caps). Two bottles are required for each entry. Beer entries must include three 11 oz. - 12 oz. brown glass bottles per entry. 

A Best in Show award will be determined from the first place winners. A cash prize is given to the first, second, and best in show standings.

Floral Show at the Puyallup Fair is Blossoming

As your gardens begin to blossom, consider entering your best flowers in the Puyallup Fair’s floral shows, Sept. 7-23 in the Americraft ShowPlex. The show features fresh flower and plant displays as well as competitions. Prior to entering your bonsai, roses, geraniums, fuchsias and more, you must first register online by Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at 10 p.m.

To obtain the list of conditions and to complete your registration, visit www.thefair.com, and select exhibit entries. To review contest rules, click on “Floral”. To pre-register, click Online Entry Registration. Then click Login/Logoff, select your Type (Exhibitor), then proceed completing your registration.

Judges will award prizes based on arrangement, quality, condition, variety, and finish.

Floral entries will be displayed in the Americraft ShowPlex near the Blue Gate with grange displays and produce, and visitors are invited to enjoy the striking floral displays.
