The Forest Service does not manage Mount Rainier National Park, though recreational opportunities along State Route 410 between Enumclaw and the park's boundaries are overseen by the Service.
The office is staffed by rangers and other personnel who can help issue a variety of recreational permits, answer questions about current forest road, trail and weather conditions, as well as provide detailed maps for recreational use. Some souvenirs and other collectibles including books and postcards are also for sale.

Specialists work with landowners and tribal representatives to oversee logging policies that ensure habitat protection. The office also manages 30 recreational sites in the region including the Tahoma, Elbe Hills, and Tiger Mountain state forests. Visitors come to the office for a variety of needs, including logging, timber sales and firewood, recreational hunting and maps. While the office is located on State Route 410 en route to Mount Rainier National Park, it does not oversee management of the park. Questions about Mount Rainier should be directed to the National Park Service or the U.S. Forest Service.
