Farm Tour August 29th!

http://enumclaw.patch.com/groups/events/p/boise-creek-boer-goats-summer-farm-tour

Join us at the farm of Liz, Ben and Jackson Clark, to learn about goats, chickens, horses, haying, and myriad other small-farm related endeavors. As a recent graduate of WSU’s Cultivating Success program, Liz will share her experiences with creating a small farm business of selling goat meat—the triumphs, challenges, resources and networking opportunities that have contributed to the success of her small farm operation. Specific management practices include on-farm composting for animal waste, rain gardens for drainage issues, invasive species control, and pasture management.
Alayne Blickle from Horses For Clean Water will be the facilitator for the farm tour. Farm Planner Erin Ericson from King Conservation District will be on hand to talk about the programs and technical assistance options available to landowners. Rick Reinlasoder from King County Livestock Program will share information about cost share programs for livestock owners wishing to implement best management practices such as sacrifice areas, gutters and downspouts, and manure composting structures. Rain Dog Designs will be on hand to discuss rain garden opportunities on farms and in residential areas. Also, learn about small farm and ranch networking in the Enumclaw area with the Enumclaw Sustainable Farmer's Network andPlateau Producers.
