Enumclaw Man Improves Health with Berkey Water

Everyone needs water and with the Berkey Filtration System, water is pure as gold, says owner Trenton Harbour.

When Trenton Harbour found himself faced with some serious health issues, it was time for him to start looking at making some life-changing improvements --  one of them was drinking water. He heard about Berkey Filtration Systems from a friend and the rest is history.

If Trenton could find a healthier option in his drinking water and one that made him feel better, why couldn’t he start offering it to others? This is how www.berkeyshop.com became Trenton’s business—a business with a focus on improving the health of others through the type of water they drank.

Editor's Note: A prior version of this story listed an incorrect web address for Trenton Harbour's business.

Trenton found a unique career opportunity through a passion for wellness.

Through his research on eating healthier and getting proper nutrients, Trenton turned his focus on the water he was drinking. Unlike other popular water filters the Berkey System uses gravity fed carbon-based filters. The use of this type of filtration creates a drip system that eliminates heavy metals and bacteria in the water but leaves in the essential minerals a body needs.

When I asked him why and how this system could be better than others, Trenton explained it to me in simple laymen language. He said to think of it like a dam with a bunch of holes in it. Other water filters spew out the water quickly, without extensive filtration. Berkey is a slow and methodic filter that instead of pushing water through, actually slow drips through the filter, taking a much longer time to get the contaminants out.

I immediately thought about camping and found that this is a big part of his business because the equipment is so portable and lightweight and requires zero power; keep in mind that it is gravity fed!  There is even a Berkey water bottle that has the filtration system within the bottle for fresh, contaminant-free water whether on the run or running a marathon.

What makes these systems so unique other than the carbon based filter is the fact they are so lightweight and can be easily transported.  A lot of Trenton’s business involves disaster preparedness and so moving a system is of the utmost importance—and of course the ability to make clean drinking water when little or none is available.  This is why Berkey is heavily involved in providing its systems to organizations such as the Red Cross and UNICEF for developing countries or to states or counties in need of emergency services.

Because it is a web-based business I was curious to find out how many hits his site gets and the answer was pretty amazing: about 30,000 per month. Who knew water could be so attractive and informative!

As a native of Enumclaw, Trenton hopes to attract more local attention to his web-based business and of course be the go-to man for healthier water.  He is a man that stands by his product and his passion and all he really wants to do is educate others about this unique water filtration system that has aided him on his quest to be a healthier human being.

Information about Berkey can be found on Trenton’s website www.berkeyshop.com.

Hi, Susan and Lou. We do know that our events calendar has issues at the moment with incorrect timesRead More displaying, and our engineering team is at work to correct this. My best suggestion at the moment is to post a comment on an event with the correct time, if you aren't able to go in and edit an event that you previously posted. Our ownership has not changed -- we have been and continue to be a part of the AOL family. Our intent with the new design is to highlight the great content that our users create and share with the community. We know there have been some bumps with our launch and are working diligently to fix them. We hope you'll be patient with us and continue to share on Patch.

Always looking for a local nature trail, I really enjoy reading Mary Janosik's well written blog. InRead More fact, almost all the dedicated bloggers posting on the Enumclaw PATCH have something worthwhile reading. But it is not an easy job for most of us, taking some time to research and write, without any compensation. Our only reward is knowing we are being read and appreciated and the only way we know that is when you comment. In my opinion, most of the PATCH blogs are a community service, informing residents about our community and issues concerning you, our readers. So please send your favorite bloggers a thank you or a comment once in awhile to keep us motivated and feel appreciated..
